Personal Project
I love T&T takeout food: it’s this massive Toronto ‘Chinese’ market that sells hands-down the best takeout food ever. Unfortunately, the food is always cold by the time I get it home, especially during a Canadian winter. Thus, I created the PackiPals food sleeve. This product went through many stages of development. I considered many insulating materials, such as bamboo, before settling on cardstock because of its accessibility and flexibility. Discarding a water-based hot pack idea as too bulky and inconvenient, I landed on a solution inspired by those "bend and snap" instant heating aids. I was inspired by dragons, including scales and paws, while making the exterior. PackiPals’ logo was inspired by origami: I spent hours experimenting with different methods of folding paper until I found a way to shape the letters I needed.
